Pro Tools Update & Upgrade Information

Updates

Upgrades
  • The current Pro Tools LE upgrade is Pro Tools LE 8.0.x for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and Windows, available from the online store.
  • All paid upgrades are full installers that do not require previous purchase or installation of Pro Tools software. To upgrade from a previous version of Pro Tools, it is only necessary to purchase the most recent upgrade.
  • Digi 001 owners that do not already own Pro Tools LE 6 can purchase the discounted upgrade to Pro Tools LE 6.4 (the last version for 001) from the online DigiStore in the Pro Tools Upgrades section.

Recent Purchases
  • If you’ve purchased and registered a Pro Tools LE system (003 Family, Mbox 2 Family), or Pro Tools LE hardware exchange, or "Pro Tools LE 7.4 with Free Upgrade to Pro Tools LE 8" software upgrade, from Avid or an authorized Avid dealer on or after October 3, 2008, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools LE 8.0 software.

  • If you’ve purchased and registered a Pro Tools LE 7.3 software upgrade, Pro Tools LE system (003 Family, Mbox 2 Family), or Pro Tools LE hardware exchange from Avid or an authorized Avid dealer on or after October 1, 2007, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools LE 7.4 software.

  • Please make sure that you have registered your qualifying product to receive this special offer.
    • Your Pro Tools LE core hardware system (003 Family, Mbox 2 Family hardware registration) must be registered. If you are registering a new Pro Tools LE hardware system, registration of the Ignition Pack 2 or optional Factory Bundle software does not qualify for the free upgrade, you must register the actual Pro Tools LE hardware.
    • Qualifying Pro Tools LE software upgrades are automatically registered when purchased on the DigiStore, or upon activation if the upgrade is purchased from an authorized Avid dealer.
    • Free "No Cost Updates" you may have already received do not qualify for an additional free upgrade to the next paid version (regardless of when you might have received the no cost update). Only the purchase of a new hardware system or purchased software upgrade would qualify as a recent purchase.

  • Registered owners that qualify should receive an email from Avid Customer Service with your Activation Code and details on how to activate and download your free upgrade. Except during peak periods (such as the when a new upgrade is first released), these emails normally go out within 24 hours of when you register your qualifying product.

Additional Information

You can return to your Pro Tools 8 downloads at any time after purchase and activation by logging into your online account. Click on "Your Products" in your account AFTER activation has been completed. If you do not see your Pro Tools LE 8 authorization code along with your downloads, check "Products not yet downloaded" to make sure you do not have any Unused Activation Codes.

You can also find any unused activation codes in your account, such as the "Pro Tools 8 Third Party Content" by clicking on “Products Not Yet Downloaded”. This would be for any products not yet activated. An activation code can only be used one time, it cannot be reused.
